Europe part two🍾
Nice, France
From Paris, we took a the train to Nice, France. It was a long ride, but it helped that we had the most beautiful views of the French countryside!
We had planned this trip to Nice seven months prior, and it fell just eight days after a terrorist attack on locals in Nice celebrating "Bastille Day" on the Promenade des Anglais, just in front of our hotel. Although it was a time of grieving, locals welcomed us with overwhelming kindness and warmth. Every morning we went to the market for flowers and lay them on the memorial for all those who had passed. As visitors to a place that had just gone through significant trauma, we felt it was especially important to pay our respects. There was an incredible lantern ceremony we got to witness, held for the community to pay tributes to their loved ones, friends, and neighbors they had lost.
We spent the majority of our days exploring the town, visiting with my aunt's friends, and swimming in the crystal-clear Mediterranean waters under the sun.
